The Zimbabwe Advertising Research Foundation was established in 1997 to undertake independent market research on behalf of advertisers, the media, publishers, advertising agencies, public relations consultancies, etc.
The Foundation initially adopted the South African All Media and Products Survey model because it seemed the most factual research of its kind - and because it was felt that it would be useful to be able to compare like with like for people intending to market regionally and continentally.
The Foundation's principal objectives, as recorded in its Constitution, are:
a) To promote, sponsor, arrange, authorise, commission, manage, control, or cause to be arranged, organised, conducted, authorised or commissioned, the obtaining of all kinds of advertising research, media audience research, surveys, investigations and reports.
b) Likewise to do all things and carry on any activities related to or associated with the above areas, with power to act through its duly authorised agents, employees and contractors and other interested parties, and to employ companies, firms and persons for such purposes, and generally do all things necessary and incidental in order to give effect to any of the objectives of the Foundation.
The Foundation comprises a board of directors representing its 'members' - The Advertising Media Association, The Association of Zimbabwe Advertisers, The Communications Industry Association and The Zimbabwe Association of Accredited Practitioners in Advertising - under the managerial guidance of Executive Chairman Colin Moxham.
The Foundation's offices are located at Shangri-La Estate, 137 Northway, Hatfield, Box 6204, Harare.
